PopimsCode™ turns your iPhone into a QR codes reader providing strong authentication, making the difference between the original product or document and a fake.
It is compatible with standard QR Codes but also with those used to authenticate items and documents carrying a “PopimsCode Signature” applied to them. A “PopimsCode signature” is a pattern that can be 2D or 3D. It may be located in number of different locations around the code itself.
2D signatures may be sufficient for low security (all 2D signs may be copied and printed at a resolution which will not enable a smartphone to detect faked signs). The breakthrough innovation is that PopimsCode also offers strong authentication of holograms and of many other types of 3D signatures, especially those containing very small randomly distributed shining particles, that are impossible to replicate and constitute an absolute proof of authenticity.
The application not only says if the product or document is authentic or not, but also displays information published by the code owner (e.g. brands, governments or individuals) through their own database servers.
The link between the PopimsCode application and the relevant database server is done through our network of secured routers called “SwitchBoards”. They guarantee that the database server delivering the authentication information is the good one, and not the one of a counterfeiter. A PopimsCode SwitchBoard also acts as a proxy, preventing third parties from collecting information from your smartphone if you want to remain anonymous. You may also register your details and allow the SwitchBoards to transfer that information to some designated servers, which may be useful for number of operations (proving your identity, allowing designated personal data information to be transferred to a third party, transferring funds, etc.). Some brands encourage users to send their details by proposing gifts such as invitations, coupons, lotteries, etc.
PopimsCode QR codes and signs may be printed by our customers own converters, using inks and varnishes that are available on the market. Our clients are also free to have their own databases maintained by the IT service of their choice, and PopimsCode does not collect any personal information from the application users. The PopimsCode technology and services is made available to brands, governments and other customers through a network of licensees.
The PopimsCode application is protected by valid patents, including US 9,058,535, and may be licensed to selected customers wishing to use our technology and secured network.
